In Wednesday's league challenge, the visiting Monte Vista Monarchs volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Mount Miguel Matadors.

The Monarchs (6-22) will now prepare for their challenge against Santana (Santee, CA). The Sultans come into the Grossmont Valley challenge with a 16-6 record. In their last challenge, Santana edged Grossmont (El Cajon, CA), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Matadors play the Steele Canyon Cougars (Spring Valley, CA) in a Grossmont Valley challenge, on Monday, October 21. Mount Miguel will attempt to upgrade on its 5-14 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 15-13 record after their 3-2 league win over El Cajon Valley (El Cajon, CA).
