In Thursday's league challenge, the host James River Midlothian Rapids volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Clover Hill Cavaliers.

The Rapids (11-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Freeman (Richmond, VA). The Mavericks come into the non-league test with a 9-8 record. In their last test, Freeman nudged Godwin (Richmond, VA), 3-2, in a league test.

The Cavaliers now sport a 4-13 record. They play next when they host Manchester for a Dominion bout on Tuesday, October 21. Clover Hill will clash with a Lancers team coming off a 3-1 non-league win over Thomas Dale (Chester, VA). The Lancers record now stands at 13-4.
