The crowd at Wednesday's non-league bout between the Gunnison Cowboys (Gunnison, CO) and the visiting Montrose Red Hawks (Montrose, CO), observed Gunnison's softball team get by Montrose by a final score of 14-13.

The Cowboys (8-10) will now prepare for their bout against Cedaredge (Cedaredge, CO). The Bruins go into the 3A Western Slope bout with a 13-6 record. In their last bout, Cedaredge tipped Eagle Valley (Gypsum, CO), 13-1, in a non-league bout.

In their next game, the Red Hawks battle the Palisade Bulldogs (Palisade, CO) in a 5A/4A Southwestern bout, on Tuesday, October 8. Montrose will attempt to better on its 5-13 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 13-8 record after their 16-1 league loss to Grand Junction (Grand Junction, CO).
