California High School Flag Football - Merced sneaks past El Capitan

October 2, 2025: Merced, CA 95348

The Merced Bears flag football team scored 26 points and restricted the host El Capitan Gauchos to 20 in the Bears league win on Thursday.

In their next game, the Bears face the Los Banos Tigers (Los Banos, CA) in a Central California Conference challenge, on Tuesday, October 7. Merced will attempt to improve on its 18-3 season record. The Tigers go into the challenge with a 7-10 record after their 33-7 league loss to Atwater (Atwater, CA).

The Gauchos (15-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Golden Valley (Merced, CA). The Cougars go into the Central California Conference challenge with a 4-13 record. In their last challenge, Golden Valley was edged by Buhach Colony (Atwater, CA), 28-12, in a league challenge.
