In Thursday's league outing, the host Newburyport Clippers soccer squad scored a tight 2-1 victory over the North Reading Hornets.
The Clippers (5-4) will now prepare for their outing against Rockport (Rockport, MA). The Vikings go into the Cape Ann outing with a 5-3 record. In their last outing, Rockport was edged by Ipswich (Ipswich, MA), 2-0, in a league test.
The Hornets now have a 7-2 record. They take the field next when they host Amesbury for a Cape Ann test on Tuesday, October 7.
