In Thursday's league challenge, the host Fitzgerald Spartans volleyball team scored a close 3-2 victory over the Madison Eagles.

The Spartans (6-2) will now prepare for their challenge against South Lake (St. Clair Shores, MI). The Cavaliers enter the non-league challenge with a 8-4 record.

Next, the Eagles meet the Eastpointe Shamrocks (Eastpointe, MI) in a Macomb Area - Bronze challenge, on Wednesday, October 8. Madison will attempt to improve on its 4-4 season record. The Shamrocks go into the test with a 3-6 record after their 3-0 league win over Lincoln (Warren, MI).
