Fans at Tuesday's non-league battle between the Bear Grass Charter Bears (Williamston, NC) and the host Gates County Red Barons (Gatesville, NC), saw Bear Grass Charter's soccer squad hold off Gates County by a count of 2-1.

The Bears (5-5) will now prepare for their battle against Cape Hatteras (Buxton, NC). The Hurricanes enter the Atlantic 1A battle with a 4-7 record. In their last battle, Cape Hatteras was edged by Mattamuskeet (Swan Quarter, NC), 5-1, in a league battle.

Next up, the Red Barons battle the North East Carolina Prep Husky (Tarboro, NC) in a Four Rivers 1A battle, on Monday, October 28. Gates County will attempt to upgrade on its 8-9 season record. The Husky enter the battle with a 4-4 record after their 5-0 league win over Perquimans (Hertford, NC).
