Fans at Thursday's league battle between the Topsail Pirates (Hampstead, NC) and the visiting Ashley Screaming Eagle (Wilmington, NC), saw Topsail's soccer squad hold off Ashley by a count of 3-2.

The Pirates (15-6) will now prepare for their battle against North Brunswick (Leland, NC). The Scorpions enter the Mideastern 3A/4A battle with a 7-11 record. In their last battle, North Brunswick was edged by Laney (Wilmington, NC), 4-0, in a league battle.

Next up, the Screaming Eagle confront the New Hanover Wildcats (Wilmington, NC) in a Mideastern 3A/4A battle, on Monday, October 28. Ashley will attempt to upgrade on its 16-4 season record. The Wildcats enter the battle with a 12-7 record after their 4-1 league win over West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC).
