Fans at Saturday's non-league contest between the Alleghany Cougars (Covington, VA) and the host Staunton Storm (Staunton, VA), observed Alleghany's volleyball team hold off Staunton by a tally of 2-1.

The Cougars (14-3) will now prepare for their contest against Wilson Memorial (Fishersville, VA). The Green Hornets enter the non-league contest with a 12-6 record. In their last test, Wilson Memorial was edged by Fort Defiance (Fort Defiance, VA), 2-0, in a non-league test.

The Storm now own a 5-12 record. They put it on the line next when they host Rockbridge County for a non-league test on Tuesday, October 28. Staunton will encounter a Wildcats squad coming off a 2-1 non-league loss to Stuarts Draft (Stuarts Draft, VA). The Wildcats record now stands at 8-12.
