In Friday's league match, the host La Vernia Bears football squad scored a close 28-27 victory over the Jones Trojans.

In their next game, the Bears clash with the Rockport-Fulton Pirates (Rockport, TX) in a 4A-1 Region IV District 15 match, on Friday, November 4. La Vernia will attempt to move on its 7-2 season record. The Pirates enter the match with a 3-6 record after their 31-10 league loss to Calhoun (Port Lavaca, TX).
