Fans at Thursday's league battle between the Althoff Catholic Crusaders (Belleville, IL) and the visiting Marquette Catholic Explorers (Alton, IL), saw Althoff Catholic's soccer squad hold off Marquette Catholic by a count of 2-1.

The Crusaders (14-4) will now prepare for their battle against Maryville Christian (Maryville, IL). The Lions enter the Gateway Metro battle with a 10-5 record. In their last battle, Maryville Christian was edged by Father McGivney Catholic (Glen Carbon, IL), 6-0, in a league battle.

Next up, the Explorers battle the Columbia Eagles (Columbia, IL) in a non-league battle, on Monday, October 7. Marquette Catholic will attempt to upgrade on its 12-6 season record. The Eagles enter the battle with a 15-3 record after their 4-1 non-league win over Triad (Troy, IL).
