Fans at Thursday's league contest between the West Greene Pioneers (Waynesburg, PA) and the visiting Avella Eagles (Avella, PA), observed West Greene's volleyball team top Avella by a tally of 3-0.

The Pioneers (5-2) will now prepare for their contest against Bethlehem Center (Fredericktown, PA). The Bulldogs enter the WPIAL 1A 3 contest with a 8-2 record. In their last contest, Bethlehem Center beat Mapletown (Greensboro, PA), 3-0, in a league contest.

Next, the Eagles meet the Bentworth Bearcats (Bentleyville, PA) in a non-league contest, on Monday, October 7. Avella will attempt to upgrade on its 0-6 season record. The Bearcats enter the contest with a 6-8 record after their 3-2 non-league win over Washington (Washington, PA).
