North Carolina High School Volleyball - Laney over New Hanover

The Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC) volleyball knocked off the visiting New Hanover Wildcats (Wilmington, NC), 3-0 in Thursday's league bout.

The Buccaneers now possess a 10-5 record. They play next when they travel to Topsail for a Mideastern 3A/4A bout on Tuesday, October 8. Laney will clash with a Pirates team coming off a 3-0 league win over South Brunswick (Southport, NC). The Pirates record now stands at 17-1.

With the loss, New Hanover drops to 2-16 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Coastal Christian (Wilmington, NC) to clash with the Centurions in a non-league bout on Monday, October 7. The Centurions come into the bout with a record of 12-9.

The Wildcats led early and led often in all 3 sets. The Cats had a chance to win each set but the Laney Buccaneers would not allow that to happen with some strong play from the bid middle hitter. The Wildcats displayed a new confidence with a relaxed but aggressive approach to the match. The Wildcats gave a great team effort along with stong Libero play from the Cats.
