New Mexico High School Football - Deming can't hold off Goddard

Goddard Rockets (Roswell, NM) followers went home in high spirits Friday as they observed their football squad nudge the visiting Deming Wildcats (Deming, NM), 40-33 in a league match.
The Rockets (5-2) will now prepare for their match against Mayfield (Las Cruces, NM). The Trojans go into the 5A District 2 battle with a 2-5 record. In their last battle, Mayfield was tipped by Lovington (Lovington, NM), 50-6, in a league battle.
The Wildcats now have a 0-7 record. They play next when they travel to Santa Teresa for a 5A District 2 battle on Thursday, October 16. Deming will meet a Desert Warriors squad coming off a 58-0 league loss to Artesia (Artesia, NM). The Desert Warriors record now stands at 0-7.
