The New Kent Trojans volleyball team scored 3 points and limited the visiting Lafayette Rams to 0 in the Trojans league victory on Monday.
The Trojans now possess a 15-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Norcom for a non-league game on Tuesday, November 1. New Kent will meet a Greyhounds team coming off a 3-0 league win over Booker T. Washington (Norfolk, VA). The Greyhounds record now stands at 8-6.

The Class 3 Region A #5 seeded Lady Trojans recorded their third 3-set sweep of the #12 seeded Lafayette Rams this season to win their Region 3A opening round match 25-8, 25-8, 25-15. Lafayette was down a few players and had to pull up some JVs, while the Lady Trojans played all 14 available players in the win. New Kent recorded their highest hitting efficiency of the season, .449, with 26 kills on 69 attempts with only 5 errors. Highlights included: Hyndshaw's 8 kills on 10 attempts, 4 aces, and 2 assists; Powell's 6 kills and 4 digs after 6 days off sick; Redman's 6 kills, a block, and an ace; Greenawalt's 4 kills & 2 aces; Carter's 3 kills on 3 swings; while Neito, Davenport, Loveland, and Rounds added 2 kills each. Loveland also added 27 assists, while Taylor recorded 5 digs. Tomorrow, New Kent travels to #4 seed I.C. Norcom in Portsmouth for their quarterfinal match.
