Los Alamos Hilltoppers (Los Alamos, NM) supporters left the game in high spirits Tuesday as they observed their volleyball squad top the host Espanola Valley Sundevils (Espanola, NM), 3-0 in a league match.
Next up, the Hilltoppers clash with the Taos Tigers (Taos, NM) in a 4A District 2 match, on Tuesday, October 11. Los Alamos will attempt to advance on its 10-4 season record. The Tigers come into the match with a 6-10 record after their 3-0 non-league loss to Goddard (Roswell, NM).
With the loss, Espanola Valley drops to 2-13 on the campaign. The Sundevils travel to Taos (Taos, NM) to clash with the Tigers in a 4A District 2 match on Thursday, October 6. The Tigers come into the match with a record of 5-9. Taos lost 3-1 in their recent league match against Pojoaque Valley (Pojoaque, NM)
Match Summary
The Toppers from Los Alamos opened district play visiting the SunDevils from Espanola on Tuesday night. The Toppers fired out in all three sets to early leads. In the first set the SunDevils rallied back to close the gap. LA was led in the front row by Michelle Macias with 12 kills followed closely by Callie Goda and Ashley Hammond with 6 kills each. The Topper back row took a little time to warm up as the first set serve / receive whoas were evident. They did get on track led by Shyanne Garcia who had a 2.14 receive mark and 90% dig ratio. All the Toppers got to see action on Tuesday night as the team worked to close out Espanola in three sets. Next up for the Toppers are the Taos Tigers next Tuesday night at home.
