Texas High School Football - Monterey tops Coronado

October 4, 2024: Lubbock, TX 79410

The Monterey Plainsmen football squad scored 42 points and limited the host Coronado Mustangs to 12 in the Plainsmen league triumph on Friday.

The Plainsmen now sport a 2-4 record. They take the field next when they host Lubbock for a 5A-1 Region I District 2 test on Friday, October 11. Monterey will meet a Westerners squad coming off a 56-7 league loss to Tascosa (Amarillo, TX). The Westerners record now stands at 3-2.

With the defeat, Coronado drops to 1-5 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Abilene (Abilene, TX) to meet the Eagles in a 5A-1 Region I District 2 test on Friday, October 11. The Eagles come into the test with a record of 4-2. Abilene won 63-42 in their recent league test against Amarillo (Amarillo, TX)
