In Saturday's league challenge, the visiting Lubbock-Cooper Pirates volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Coronado Mustangs.

The Pirates (19-10) will now prepare for their challenge against Plainview (Plainview, TX). The Bulldogs come into the 5A Region I District 3 challenge with a 12-17 record. In their last challenge, Plainview was nudged by Amarillo (Amarillo, TX), 3-0, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Mustangs face the Palo Duro Dons (Amarillo, TX) in a 5A Region I District 3 test, on Tuesday, October 7. Coronado will attempt to advance on its 18-16 season record. The Dons go into the test with a 4-15 record after their 3-0 league loss to Lubbock-Cooper (Lubbock, TX).
