Eastside Spartans (Coeburn, VA) supporters left the game in high spirits Thursday as they observed their volleyball squad hold off the visiting J.I. Burton Black Raiders (Norton, VA), 3-2 in a league match.

Next up, the Spartans clash with the Rye Cove Eagles (Clinchport, VA) in a Cumberland match, on Tuesday, October 10. Eastside will attempt to advance on its 12-6 season record. The Eagles come into the match with a 4-12 record after their 3-2 league win over Castlewood (Castlewood, VA).

With the loss, J.I. Burton drops to 6-5 on the campaign. The Black raiders host Thomas Walker (Ewing, VA) to clash with the Pioneers in a Cumberland match on Tuesday, October 10. The Pioneers come into the match with a record of 8-2.
