The crowd at Thursday's league bout between the Irvington Vikings (Fremont, CA) and the host Newark Memorial Cougars (Newark, CA), saw Irvington's volleyball squad beat Newark Memorial by a tally of 3-0.

With the win, Irvington upgrades its record to 8-9 on the year. The Vikings host Moreau Catholic (Hayward, CA) to play the Mariners in a Mission Valley bout on Tuesday, October 10. The Mariners go into the bout with a record of 3-15. Moreau Catholic lost 2-0 in their recent non-league bout against Oakdale (Oakdale, CA)

The Cougars now own a 4-15 record. They play next when they travel to East Union for a non-league bout on Saturday, October 7. Newark Memorial will play a Lancers squad coming off a 3-0 league win over Kimball (Tracy, CA). The Lancers record now stands at 12-14.
