Portal Panthers (Portal, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Bryan County Redskins (Pembroke, GA), 8-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 11-9 record. They take the field next when they host McIntosh County Academy for a 1A D-II Region 3 challenge on Monday, October 10. Portal will face a Buccaneers squad coming off a 10-9 non-league win over Jenkins (Savannah, GA). The Buccaneers record now stands at 3-16.

With the loss, Bryan County falls to 15-4 on the campaign. The Redskins travel to Southeast Bulloch (Brooklet, GA) to face the Yellowjackets in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, October 11. The Yellowjackets enter the challenge with a record of 14-7. Southeast Bulloch won 9-8 in their recent league challenge against Wayne County (Jesup, GA)
