The Amarillo Sandies football team (Amarillo, TX), was beaten 49-19 in Friday's league challenge with the host Lubbock-Cooper Pirates (Lubbock, TX)

The Pirates (4-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Abilene (Abilene, TX). The Eagles come into the 5A-1 Region I District 2 challenge with a 5-2 record. In their last challenge, Abilene knocked off Caprock (Amarillo, TX), 55-0, in a league challenge.

The Sandies now sport a 3-4 record. They take the field next when they host Coronado for a 5A-1 Region I District 2 challenge on Thursday, October 12. Amarillo will meet a Mustangs team coming off a 35-2 league loss to Lubbock-Cooper (Lubbock, TX). The Mustangs record now stands at 2-4.
