Fans at Monday's non-league battle between the R-S Central Hilltoppers (Rutherfordton, NC) and the host Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC), saw R-S Central's soccer squad hold off Draughn by a count of 1-0.

The Hilltoppers (4-9) will now prepare for their battle against Chase (Forest City, NC). The Trojans enter the non-league battle with a 5-7 record. In their last battle, Chase was edged by West Caldwell (Lenoir, NC), 3-2, in a non-league battle.

In their next game, the Wildcats meet the Patton Panthers (Morganton, NC) in a Western Piedmont 3A/4A match, on Wednesday, October 8. Draughn will attempt to move on its 0-10 season record. The Panthers come into the match with a 13-1 record after their 9-0 non-league win over East Burke (Connelly Springs, NC).
