Fans at Monday's league battle between the Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC) and the host East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC), saw Elkin's soccer squad triumph over East Wilkes by a count of 9-0.

The Buckin' Elks (14-1) will now prepare for their battle against Alleghany (Sparta, NC). The Trojans enter the Mountain Valley 2A/3A/4A battle with a 3-8 record. In their last battle, Alleghany was overwhelmed by North Wilkes (Hays, NC), 3-1, in a league match.

The Cardinals now sport a 0-14 record. They take the field next when they travel to Wilkes Central for a Mountain Valley 2A/3A/4A match on Wednesday, October 8. East Wilkes will meet a Eagles team coming off a 4-1 league win over Starmount (Boonville, NC). The Eagles record now stands at 7-4.
