The Wilmington Wildcats edged the host Seneca Fighting Irish volleyball squad by a final score of 2-1 in Monday's non-league game.
Coming up next, the Wildcats play the Manteno Panthers (Manteno, IL) in a Illinois Central Eight outing, on Tuesday, October 7. Wilmington will attempt to upgrade on its 19-3 season record. The Panthers come into the outing with a 20-3 record after their 2-0 league win over Reed-Custer (Braidwood, IL).
With the loss, Seneca drops to 16-7 on the campaign. The Fighting irish host Putnam County (Granville, IL) to confront the Panthers in a Tri-County game on Tuesday, October 7. Wilmington Volleyball opened up the week with a win over Seneca on Monday. Varsity won 25-16, 14-25, 25-22. Makenzie Rodriguez was a powerhouse at the net with 8 kills and 4 blocks. Rachel Smith was right behind her with 7 kills to go along with her 13 digs, 4 aces, 3 blocks and an assist. Molly Southall ended the evening with 15 digs, 10 assists, 4 kills, and a block. Addison Billingsley led as the setter with 11 assists, 4 digs and an ace. Both Melia Hincherick and Sami Liaromatis added 14 digs each. Hincherick also had 3 kills while Liaromatis had an ace.
