Fans at Tuesday's non-league contest between the Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) and the host Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), observed Bland County's volleyball team hold off Giles by a count of 2-1.

The Bears (5-7) will now prepare for their contest against George Wythe (Wytheville, VA). The Maroons enter the non-league contest with a 6-7 record. In their last contest, George Wythe was edged by Auburn (Riner, VA), 2-0, in a non-league battle.

The Spartans now own a 7-9 record. They put it on the line next when they host Fort Chiswell for a non-league battle on Thursday, October 9. Giles will encounter a Pioneers squad coming off a 2-0 non-league win over Grayson County (Independence, VA). The Pioneers record now stands at 6-8.
