Fans at Tuesday's league battle between the North Johnston Panthers (Kenly, NC) and the visiting SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars (Pinetops, NC), saw North Johnston's soccer squad hold off SouthWest Edgecombe by a count of 2-1.

The Panthers (2-13) will now prepare for their match against Eastern Wayne (Goldsboro, NC). The Warriors come into the Three Rivers 4A match with a 4-6 record. In their last match, Eastern Wayne nipped West Craven (Vanceboro, NC), 8-1, in a league match.

The Cougars now sport a 4-8 record. They take the field next when they host North Lenoir for a Three Rivers 4A match on Thursday, October 9. SouthWest Edgecombe will meet a Hawks team coming off a 2-0 league win over North Johnston (Kenly, NC). The Hawks record now stands at 7-9.
