Pennsylvania High School Soccer - Bensalem knocks off Harry S. Truman

The Bensalem Fighting Owls soccer squad scored 4 points and held the host Harry S. Truman Tigers to 1 in the Fighting Owls league victory on Thursday.
The Fighting Owls now possess a 5-10 record. They play next when they host Council Rock South for a Suburban One - National bout on Monday, October 13. Bensalem will face a Golden Hawks team coming off a 1-0 non-league loss to Archbishop Wood (Warminster, PA). The Golden Hawks record now stands at 7-8.
The Tigers (2-12) will now prepare for their game against Neshaminy (Langhorne, PA). The Skins come into the Suburban One - National game with a 11-5 record. In their last game, Neshaminy edged Council Rock North (Newtown, PA), 3-1, in a league game.
Match Summary
Truman hosted Bensalem in Senior Appreciation Night, paying homage to the 9 Bensalem Seniors as well as their own, Aubrey Thompson, Liz Delaney, Grace Darpino, Jada Akins and Laila Lorenti. Bensalem was up 1-0 early in the 1st, however Truman kept battling and evened it up with 30 seconds left in the half on a Howitzer of a shot by Laila Lorenti, scoring her 3rd goal of the season off of a direct kick. Bensalem scored on a free kick early in the 2nd and added two insurance goals to hold onto a 4-1 win. The Tigers had quite the pregame ceremony. Following the senior recognition and starting lineup announcements, Sophmore Natalie Klimowicz sang a beautiful and moving rendition of the National Anthem. It was a great night for soccer, both on and off the field.
