In Thursday's non-league match, the Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC) volleyball squad prevailed the visiting Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC), by a margin of 2-0.

The Wolverines now possess a 7-6 record. They play next when they host Hendersonville for a non-league bout on Tuesday, October 14. Polk County will clash with a Bearcats team coming off a 2-0 non-league win over Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC). The Bearcats record now stands at 16-3.

With the loss, Avery County drops to 11-7 on the year. The Vikings travel to Mitchell (Bakersville, NC) to clash with the Mountaineers in a non-league bout on Tuesday, October 14.
