In Friday's league contest, the host Yates Lions basketball team scored a good 71-63 triumph over the Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men Knights.

The Lions (2-1) will now prepare for their contest against Kashmere (Houston, TX). The Fighting Rams go into the 4A Region III District 20 contest with a 0-2 record. In their last contest, Kashmere was topped by Kountze (Kountze, TX), 93-56, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Knights battle the Northside Panthers (Houston, TX) in a 4A Region III District 20 battle, on Tuesday, November 19. Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men will attempt to advance on its 1-2 season record. The Panthers enter the battle with a 1-2 record after their 110-30 league loss to Wheatley (Houston, TX).
