The Newton Tigers basketball team scored 49 points and restricted the visiting Northeast Lauderdale Trojans to 36 in the Tigers non-league victory on Thursday.
The Tigers now sport a 5-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Port Gibson for a non-league contest on Monday, November 20. Newton will battle a Blue Waves team coming off a 50-47 non-league win over Murrah (Jackson, MS). The Blue Waves record now stands at 2-0.
The Trojans (2-1) will now prepare for their contest against Morton (Morton, MS). The Panthers come into the non-league contest with a 2-0 record. In their last contest, Morton prevailed over Leake County (Walnut Grove, MS), 53-14, in a non-league contest.
