Game Summary
Neither side posed a serious threat until after the fist water break, though both had shots on frame that were readily turned aside. In about the 31st minute, though, a somewhat questionable foul call on Ariana B. inside the 18 led to a Marauder penalty kick that found the back of the net, and at the half we were down by 1. We kept the pressure on with several counters in the second half, particularly as the game wound down. Aaliyah had several good lucks from near and far that were just off the mark. Our best chance to come even came in the final seconds when Mango sent a pass to Aaliyah in stride down the middle; she dribbled clear of the defenders and sent a strike to the far post that was just wide. We ended with 2 shots on goal in 9 attempts, while Maclay notched 6 on goal in 8 tries. Lidia and the back line played well throughout, and our effort team-wide was physical and intense. But we're left still looking for our first “W” of the season.
