The Newton County Cougars basketball team (Decatur, MS), was overwhelmed 84-54 in Tuesday's non-league battle with the host Pearl Pirates (Pearl, MS)
The Pirates now possess a 6-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Neshoba Central for a non-league battle on Friday, December 1. Pearl will confront a Rockets team coming off a 93-86 non-league win over Choctaw Central (Philadelphia, MS). The Rockets record now stands at 5-3.
The Cougars (1-3) will now prepare for their battle against Quitman (Quitman, MS). The Panthers come into the non-league battle with a 6-0 record. In their last battle, Quitman trounced South Jones (Ellisville, MS), 47-40, in a non-league battle.
