Quitman Panthers (Quitman, MS) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting South Jones Braves (Ellisville, MS), 47-40 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Quitman upgrades its record to 6-0 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Newton County (Decatur, MS) to play the Cougars in a non-league bout on Friday, December 1. The Cougars go into the test with a record of 1-3. Newton County lost 84-54 in their recent non-league test against Pearl (Pearl, MS)

The Braves now own a 2-3 record. They play next when they travel to West Jones for a non-league test on Tuesday, December 5.
