Lamar Raiders (Meridian, MS) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Starkville Academy Volunteers (Starkville, MS), 50-31 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Lamar upgrades its record to 2-8 on the season. The Raiders host Brookhaven Academy (Brookhaven, MS) to play the Cougars in a non-league bout on Friday, December 1. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 3-3. Brookhaven Academy lost 56-49 in their recent non-league bout against Park Place Christian Academy (Pearl, MS)

Next up, the Volunteers play the Hartfield Academy Hawks (Flowood, MS) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 5. Starkville Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 6-3 season record. The Hawks go into the bout with a 7-3 record after their 56-40 non-league loss to Heritage Academy (Columbus, MS).
