Lamar Raiders (Meridian, MS) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Starkville Academy Volunteers (Starkville, MS), 63-55 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Lamar upgrades its record to 4-5 on the season. The Raiders host Brookhaven Academy (Brookhaven, MS) to clash with the Cougars in a non-league bout on Friday, December 1. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 11-3. Brookhaven Academy won 69-15 in their recent non-league bout against Park Place Christian Academy (Pearl, MS)

Next up, the Volunteers clash with the Hartfield Academy Hawks (Flowood, MS) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 5. Starkville Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 6-3 season record. The Hawks go into the bout with a 5-5 record after their 34-19 non-league loss to Heritage Academy (Columbus, MS).
