Newman Catholic Knights (Mason City, IA) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears (Algona, IA), 76-58 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newman Catholic upgrades its record to 2-0 on the season. The Knights host North Butler (Greene, IA) to play the Bearcats in a non-league bout on Friday, December 2. The Bearcats go into the bout with a record of 1-0.

Next up, the Golden Bears play the Lake Mills Bulldogs (Lake Mills, IA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 6. Bishop Garrigan will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 0-2 record after their 71-65 league loss to Belmond-Klemme (Belmond, IA).
