Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Hickory Red Tornadoes (Hickory, NC), 56-48 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Freedom upgrades its record to 2-0 on the campaign. The Patriots host East Burke (Connelly Springs, NC) to play the Cavaliers in a non-league bout on Friday, December 2. The Cavaliers come into the bout with a record of 2-0. East Burke won 60-14 in their recent non-league bout against Patton (Morganton, NC)

Next up, the Red Tornadoes play the Newton-Conover Red Devils (Newton, NC) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 2. Hickory will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Red Devils come into the bout with a 3-0 record after their 54-49 non-league win over St. Stephens (Hickory, NC).
