Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Lamar Raiders (Meridian, MS) and the visiting Brookhaven Academy Cougars (Brookhaven, MS), saw Lamar's basketball squad overcome Brookhaven Academy by a tally of 58-50.

With the victory, Lamar improves its record to 3-8 on the campaign. The Raiders host Wayne Academy (Waynesboro, MS) to confront the Jaguars in a MAIS 5A District 2 challenge on Tuesday, December 5. The Jaguars come into the challenge with a record of 3-2. Wayne Academy lost 61-38 in their recent non-league challenge against Columbia Academy (Columbia, MS)

Next up, the Cougars confront the Bowling Green Buccaneers (Franklinton, LA) in a MAIS 5A District 3 challenge, on Tuesday, January 16. Brookhaven Academy will attempt to improve on its 3-4 season record.
