The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union Royals basketball team scored 48 points and restricted the visiting Gehlen Catholic Jays to 43 in the Royals league victory on Friday.

The Royals now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Harris-Lake Park for a War Eagle contest on Tuesday, December 5. Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union will battle a Wolves team coming off a 62-48 league win over West Sioux (Hawarden, IA). The Wolves record now stands at 1-1.

The Jays (1-2) will now prepare for their contest against Akron-Westfield (Akron, IA). The Westerners come into the War Eagle contest with a 1-2 record. In their last contest, Akron-Westfield was nudged by St. Mary's (Remsen, IA), 50-39, in a league contest.
