The Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans (Madison, WI) basketball nipped the host Madison La Follette Lancers (Madison, WI), 69-65 in Friday's league test.
The Spartans (5-1) will now prepare for their test against Verona (Verona, WI). The Wildcats go into the Big Eight test with a 6-0 record. In their last test, Verona got by Janesville Parker (Janesville, WI), 78-22, in a league test.
The Lancers now own a 3-2 record. They play next when they host Sun Prairie East for a Big Eight test on Thursday, December 7.
