The crowd at Tuesday's league challenge between the Monterey Plainsmen (Lubbock, TX) and the visiting Lubbock Westerners (Lubbock, TX), observed Monterey's basketball team overwhelm Lubbock by a score of 74-43.

The Plainsmen (18-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Tascosa (Amarillo, TX). The Rebels come into the 5A Region I District 3 challenge with a 15-2 record. In their last challenge, Tascosa was routed by Wylie (Abilene, TX), 36-30, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Westerners battle the Amarillo Sandies (Amarillo, TX) in a 5A Region I District 3 challenge, on Friday, December 13. Lubbock will attempt to improve on its 5-10 season record. The Sandies come into the challenge with a 15-2 record after their 86-19 league win over Caprock (Amarillo, TX).
