North Carolina High School Basketball - Smoky Mountain thwarts Swain County

December 10, 2024: Sylva, NC 28779

The crowd at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC) and the visiting Swain County Maroon Devils (Bryson City, NC), observed Smoky Mountain's basketball team knock off Swain County by a score of 52-33.

The Mustangs (2-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Pisgah (Canton, NC). The Bears come into the 3A Mountain 7 challenge with a 4-1 record. In their last challenge, Pisgah prevailed over Erwin (Asheville, NC), 65-52, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Maroon Devils encounter the Hayesville Yellowjackets (Hayesville, NC) in a 1A Big Smoky challenge, on Friday, December 13. Swain County will attempt to improve on its 1-3 season record. The Yellowjackets come into the challenge with a 1-2 record after their 36-28 non-league win over Highlands (Highlands, NC).
