North Carolina High School Basketball - Draughn nudges Freedom

The crowd at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC) and the host Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC), observed Draughn's basketball squad hold off Freedom by a count of 44-37.

With the victory, Draughn advances its record to 5-1 on the year. The Wildcats travel to R-S Central (Rutherfordton, NC) to meet the Hilltoppers in a Western Piedmont 3A/4A battle on Friday, December 12. The Hilltoppers enter the battle with a record of 2-2. R-S Central lost 58-19 in their recent non-league challenge against McDowell (Marion, NC)

In their next game, the Patriots encounter the A.C. Reynolds Rockets (Asheville, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, December 16. Freedom will attempt to improve on its 2-4 season record.
