The Gretna Hawks (Gretna, VA) basketball edged the host Halifax County Comets (South Boston, VA), 54-47 in Wednesday's non-league bout.
The Hawks now possess a 3-0 record. They play next when they travel to Appomattox County for a Dogwood bout on Friday, December 13. Gretna will play a Raiders team coming off a 58-48 non-league loss to Rustburg (Rustburg, VA). The Raiders record now stands at 3-1.
With the loss, Halifax County falls to 2-4 on the campaign. The Comets travel to Magna Vista (Ridgeway, VA) to play the Warriors in a Piedmont bout on Friday, December 13. The Warriors go into the bout with a record of 0-2. Magna Vista lost 70-47 in their recent non-league bout against Floyd County (Floyd, VA)
