In Thursday's non-league contest, the visiting Newport Greyhounds basketball team scored a big 71-50 win over the Palestine-Wheatley Patriots.

The Greyhounds (9-0) will now prepare for their contest against Rivercrest (Wilson, AR). The Colts enter the 3A Region 3 match with a 1-9 record. In their last match, Rivercrest was crushed by Pocahontas (Pocahontas, AR), 77-57, in a non-league match.

The Patriots now own a 1-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to KIPP Delta for a 2A Region 6 match on Friday, December 12. Palestine-Wheatley will face a team coming off a 59-27 league win over Carlisle (Carlisle, AR). The record now stands at 2-3.
