Match Summary
Our strategy: tight marking, containing their speedy front line, closing down their passing lanes, while executing accurate passes and positive movements with the ball. We did pretty well with the defensive aspects for the first 25 m. (though Emma had already collected 4 saves of their first 7 attempts), but were unable to generate any offense. They scored in the 24th m., but we still felt pretty positive. Even after their free-kick goal in the 56th min. we didn't feel completely out of it. But a third goal with 18 m. left, followed by a fourth just 3 m. later sealed our fate. Our lone highlight came with 9 m. left when Player of the Game Aida (benched in the first half after getting banged up with a bruised cheek) drew another foul several yards outside the 18. Rhea's resulting long-range free kick landed close in; it brushed off Braden's leg and was sent to the back of the net by Dylan. Our 2 shots paired with their 32 att./20 on goal, and Emma had a busy night with 16 saves.
