Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Charlotte Catholic Cougars (Charlotte, NC), 59-45 in a league bout.

With the win, Independence upgrades its record to 5-3 on the season. The Patriots travel to Garinger (Charlotte, NC) to play the Wildcats in a 4A Southwestern bout on Friday, December 15. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 0-8. Garinger lost 89-50 in their recent league bout against East Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC)

Next up, the Cougars play the Rocky River Ravens (Mint Hill, NC) in a 4A Southwestern bout, on Friday, December 15. Charlotte Catholic will attempt to upgrade on its 5-2 season record. The Ravens go into the bout with a 4-6 record after their 74-68 non-league win over Piedmont (Monroe, NC).
