North Carolina High School Basketball - Smithfield-Selma trounced by Triton

December 12, 2024: Erwin, NC 28339

The Smithfield-Selma Spartans basketball squad (Smithfield, NC), was crushed 73-34 in Thursday's non-league battle with the host Triton Hawks (Erwin, NC)

With the victory, Triton advances its record to 7-1 on the year. The Hawks travel to Westover (Fayetteville, NC) to meet the Wolverines in a 3A/4A All-American battle on Friday, December 13. The Wolverines enter the battle with a record of 3-2. Westover won 70-53 in their recent league battle against Harnett Central (Angier, NC)

The Spartans now own a 2-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host South Johnston for a 3A Quad County battle on Friday, December 13. Smithfield-Selma will meet a Trojans squad coming off a 55-46 non-league win over Corinth Holders (Wendell, NC). The Trojans record now stands at 3-3.
