Covington Cougars (Covington, VA) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Highland Rams (Monterey, VA), 81-65 in a league bout.

With the win, Covington upgrades its record to 2-0 on the season. The Cougars host Craig County (New Castle, VA) to play the Rockets in a Pioneer bout on Thursday, December 15. The Rockets go into the bout with a record of 0-4. Craig County lost 71-43 in their recent league bout against Parry McCluer (Buena Vista, VA)

Next up, the Rams play the Eastern Montgomery Mustangs (Elliston, VA) in a Pioneer bout, on Tuesday, December 20. Highland will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record.
